Snow fort

We had so much snow a couple weeks ago that I-70 was shut down from Marshall to Kingdom city, all most 90 miles.

There wasn't much to do because they wanted everyone to stay home so they could get the roads cleared off. Rumor has it that if you went out and then got stuck you were going to get a ticket. With nothing else to do D'artanyan and myself built a snow fort. Brings back memories of my childhood.

The snow fort

It was big enough for me to sit up in.
This was inside. I sprayed the interior walls with water so it would turn to ice and help to support the structure.

Looking outside.

D"artanyan climbing inside at night.

Sweeeeeet!

Hey... remember the lame forts we used to have to build? The soft-shell forts made using a bed sheet, a box fan, and three bricks?

We'd take the bed sheet and put one side of it on top of the box fan, then take the other two corners and hold them down on the floor with the other two bricks (or heavy books) and then turn the fan on -- and the fort would fill with air and we'd have fun.

It was always fun... and, of course, someone would play too hard and end up pushing the walls of the fort too much and the brick would fall off the fax onto one of us, or even end up pulling the box fan over on the floor.

Oh, the joys of being a kid. And to think, that kids today require $100+ toys to be entertained. What ever happened to the magic behind an old bed sheet, box fan, and three heavy objects?
