Time to shave...again

Ok it's time for me to shave once again and if you have read my past posts or you know me, you know how I feel about the daunting task of shaving.
Well a very good friend of mine sent me something that I really want.

It's this new razor they have out and with this baby I'll only be shaving like once a year..if that.

Thanks a bunch for the sweet hook up Mark.

Cat Carrier

Just a little post and this is more for my brother dave then anyone else.

We were thinking about getting a pet for the kids because that would teach them responsibility and how to care for another living thing, so I thought maybe a cat...then I thought ...we would need a "cat carrier" so that our beloved "new" family member could go to all the places we go safe and sound.
I found this and I think it would work just fine. Let me know what you think, I would just hate to waste $20.00 on something that's not going to work for what we need.

Trash Monster

Ever since we moved into our new place there has not been one week, not one single week that the neighbors trash has not cluttered my side of the back yard...let me explain.

We live in a duplex/condominium and every week at one point or another their trashcan gets dumped over by something in the middle of the night. This might not be such a big problem if the next day when my neighbors see the litter that they would then pick it up.

We had a wild cat that had a litter and I thought that she was who was getting into their trash, but in the past 2 weeks I have changed my mind, and why you ask ... well 1st and foremost, I haven't seen the cats in awhile and 2nd, one time I saw the mother cat outside(this was in the middle of the night) run from some dark shadowy figure, then the trashcan got tore apart.

This past week we had our windows open because of the cool air and fairly low humidity. At about 2:30 in the morning I awoke to the sounds of vandalism in the backyard so I stumbled out of bed grabbed my camera, and ran outside to take a pic in the darkness so I would finally have an answer to what this thing was.

You know it wouldn't have bothered me so much but the neighbors always wait 2 or 3 days to pick up all the trash that gets dumped and I think the reason they do it is because in that amount of time the wind will blow at least 30 to 40% of the crap in my yard then they have less to pick up and even then they only pick up some of it, leaving the rest for me to pick up or to blow into our fence line which has now become a land fill. If it was me I'd get tried of having my trash blow all over the place and do something to make sure that nothing could dump my trash can over and rip into my stinking bags of filth.

Can you see anything in this pic?

This is the next day and I was so relieved to see that there was hardly any amount of trash...but then again this was only 1 day after we put our trash out for pick up. So what I'm wondering is why the trash monster was so late this week?...maybe nothing good to eat...maybe not enough litter to throw in my yard so it could look like a nuclear waste station...maybe the stench of rotting flesh from all their half eaten take out wasn't strong enough, or the fact that maggots hadn't began to form in their trashcan....well heck I don't know but I was so happy that for once I wouldn't be picking up 5 tons of crap out of my yard just to keep the kids from getting mono/AIDs or some kind of staff disease.

6:00am

Even thought I have never seen the "Trash Monster" it must look something close to this because of all the damage I've seen and all the horendish noises.

I wish he'd pick up after himself.

Old time ads

Since I don't have to much to write about I thought I might post some "old time ads"

"click on the image to see a larger version"

I can't wait until this comes to my gas station.
Man how much easier would that be than the stupid pull tabs that we have.

Well that does it then I'm going to start smoking again.
But this time I won't make the same mistake of smoking Basics(cause they cause cancer).

I hear you loud and clear good buddy.
But not on the "Fag" thing.

Everything's better with FAT...here's the proof.
Just look how happy Paula Deen is(I would have dinner with her every night. Butter Butter Butter and more Butter).

Slim Fast eat your heart out.
I remember my mom picking worms out of my butt when I was a kid.

Special Agent Training 2

Well the real reason for this post today is to see how everyone likes the new look of my blog.

With help from my Megbabe I have added some of my favorite links to the right so you can enjoy them too and I hope the new colors will be easier on your eyes.

As far as my S.A.T. (special agent training) goes...well not so good.
I never did the timed running because when I did the push-ups and the sit-ups I was sore for 3 days afterwards and I only scored 2 points according to the FBI site, so I'm going to do a week of stretching before I try anymore.
In my minds eye I'm still in my 20's so I have to face the fact that I'm not.

Just a pic of my coolness.

Special Agent Training

Special Agent Training

Remember back in grade school when you had to complete the president's physical fitness test?

My brother Larry always came out in front and in fact set almost all the school records.

We were like 3 or 4 grades apart but when I got to his grade level the recored still had yet to be broken...I wounder if some 20 years later he has any left to be toped.

A guy I consider a friend of mine(O.B. He's the one that started me thinking about doing this.) began looking on-line at various physical fitness requirements for the Army, Navy Seals, and FBI, and found the FBI's Special Agent fitness requirements.

Here are the parameters:

Tomorrow with the help of Meg I will see were I stack up and what I have to work on...remember that I just stopped smoking a little over 2 weeks ago so this is going to be interesting.

The date

When the kids went to Ex Springs to spend some time with the family Meg and I found our selves nothing to do but,

Have fun

So we decided to go on a date.

First was dinner
next was a movie.

Yes, we went to Bueno's.
It's a TexMex kind of restaurant.
I thought it was one of those places were you go in have a margarita while you wait on your food to be served to you.

I was wrong!

This is where you order...and wait for your food

Seating

The salsa bar

As you can see it's more of a fast food restaurant..with no alcohol
at all..totally dry,
man what a bummer.

Meg's food

My food

The food was good but in my opinion over priced for what you got and not salty at all. Maybe the small salsa bar was supposed to make up for that, any way save your cash and go to Taco Bell instead, their food has a better taste and will fill you up.

Then we went to see Evan Almighty what a fun time that was and the company was even better. Meg bought the tickets on line so we just walked right on in and we were suppose to let the guy at the podium have them so he could rip them in half then tell us were to go, but the place was dead and there was no guy so we just found it our selves.

If we would have known this going in then we wouldn't have wasted the money on the tickets and just walked in there like we were supposed to be there and saw the movie for free.

Un-used tickets

All in all I had a great time just hanging out with my woman.

Locked out

I'm having a problem with the brakes on my truck.

Whenever you drive it the wheel on the front drivers side gets HOT and I mean hot to the touch, you can even smell it, so my brother Larry came over. He said he thought it might be a caliber because we just had new brakes put on which ruled out other possibilities. We took off the tires to get a better look but somehow in the process we managed to lock the keys inside...with the lights on....Oh and the only other person with a key is Meg and she's out of town...
CRAPOLA.
I went across the street to ask my neighbor if he had a Slim Jim (he has a repo business) but all his equipment was tied up in St. Louis. Then I went to the guy that lives next to me but he was unable to help. I made a few dead end phone calls for help but to no avail. Then the "repo guy" summonsed me over with some good news. He said his son in law (I think thats what he said) had a kit to get me in and was on his way. Oooohhhhh what a relief when he showed up to save the day.

He's got all the goods.

Hard at work

He even took great pains not to break or scratch anything on this 1991 Toyota
(like you could even tell if he did).

Well he got us in and asked for nothing in return...man how great is that? Do you even know what a locksmith would have cost? Anyway he "Mike Jr." (they call him) did this on a Sunday when he was probably in the middle of watching a game and was the nicest guy you could have met.
Thanks so much Mike Jr.

My dad said I should of just let the battery run dead and wait tell Meg got home.

Struck it Rich

You won't believe what I got in the mail today.

I now have in my possession Gold.

When my brothers and myself were small we had the most strict, most kind, most forgiving person you could have as a babysitter....

That person was none other then Veda Mitchell.

As I rember it she was an awesome woman, raising 3 kids of her own and at the lose of one, with nobody but herslf and strong will to get her through. She used to scrounge the house for things for us to eat and always came up with something healthy even though I doubt she ever had more then $20.00 in her purse at any one time. She taught us about love, compassion, rules of life and, how to be strong when things are looking bleak. Always strong willed and wouldn't let us fart sideways if we didn't have a good reason for it.

One thing I remember most is how late at night before she put us to sleep, she always had a scary ghost story to tell us. I have for many, many, many, many, many years wanted those stories because I can only remember parts of each.

Well today my Mom called and said she had some letters for me. 3 letters to be exact all from Veda....Oh Man my heart jumped 2 times when she said that............here's what I received.

Here are the stories I got...

1) Margie, Margie, give me back my BIG TOE

2) The Bear and the Monkey

3) Bloody eyes and Bloody bones

Oh by the way they are all hand written. How often do people hand write things now-a-days?

Thanks Veda and thanks Mommy for those letters...My kids are going to be scared out of their skin....HaHaHaHahehehehe

Camping in our woods

This last weekend the 2 neighbor boys, D'Artanyan, and myself went camping in the woods that are in hiking distance from our place.

All loaded up and off we go.
We had to climb under a bob wire fence to enter the field that leads to the woods.

Finally got to the woods but then...

....OH MAN another bob wire fence.
We had to study this one and come up with a great plan to get past it.

There were also some streams we had to cross and we set up camp next to one of them.

For dinner we had ramen noodles and hot dogs, and for dessert we had marshmallows.
For breakfast we ate eggs, sausage links, and toast.
We played the bug game and the neighbor boys are now addicted to it.

This was in the morning and I had most of camp packed up.

On the way to the campsite we encountered a wild turkey and I chased it around in a big circle trying to get some good pics but my camera settings weren't set right so the pics didn't turn out. The boys all thought this was the funniest part of the whole trip, watching me run in circles. They thought it was a beaver. Sorry, but I will tell you it was a Mom turkey because there were 4 or 5 baby turkeys following her, and she kept trying to divert me away from them.
We had loads of fun and the kids can't wait till we go again. Of course we came home with lots of tics in tow.

Weekend in Ex. Springs part 3

We got everything ready just (barely) in time for the 4th of July party.

My brother David showed up for last years party. He wanted to help out by buying some beer.

So this year when I went downstairs to get something out of the fridge I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the door. Guess what caught my eye, beer David bought for all of us to try. Over a year later there was still some left.
(They sucked, that's why there's still 2 left.)

Since it had been raining we didn't have as big of a turn out as we should have had but as the night wore on more guest showed up.

We had live music, that's always a special treat but I went to down to the house to get some pics of the kids shooting off their works so I missed out on all the fun up at the barn.

One of the rockets that they fired up fell over as I was taking a pic and hit me in the chest....oh man did it hurt, it left a big tan/brown spot on my shirt were it smacked me.

The fire works the city put on were great and fun was had by all...I went to bed early because I was suffering from war wounds.

It has just been raining all day long here so we decided we couldn't do the 4th of July party in are usual spot which is the back porch.

Audrey tried sooo hard to help dry things up but it just didn't work

So off to the Barn we go.

We had to move every thing from the house out to the barn...Then set it up!

Oh and we had to have help...i guess...

...more help...i guess

I thought we had it all under control?

More tomorrow.

Weekend in Ex. Springs

Well it's that time around here in Ex. Springs for the moving of the trucks and tractors.

This time we had a very good reason for moving them...well we always have a good reason but this time it was different and I'll post about that latter.

They have to be moved in a very speific order, you can't just start moving things around or it would end up looking like a used car lot.

Truck after truck and tractor after tractor they were moved in a harmony of sounds and smells and it was that perfect blend that made for a job well done.

Some go over there

and some over here...

...and one right here.

Old farmers wives tales

Meg was telling me about an old farmers wives tail. She said that if it's going to rain then cows will move to higher ground. Well it must be true because I have noticed that right before and while it's raining the cows do indeed move to higher ground, and in this case higher ground just happens to be in our backyard.

Here's the proof.

It's been raining here all day and is raining as I type this but we had about an hour earlier when the rain had stopped so I decided to go on a hike into the nearby forest and give Meg some time by herself, while Audrey was taking a nap to read a book she's been dying to read and it finally came in at the library today. Well the stream was loaded with lot's of muddy water(the muddy part is normal for these parts) and it was wet, wet, wet. What I'm really looking for is the wild turkeys that I hear quite often . I did find lots of varieties of mushrooms and if I knew what type were safe to eat we could have had a feast toinght. I also found lots of spider slik...hard to miss when it's stiking to your face...aaarrrr, some really pretty stones at the stream that were probably worth a few thousand dollors a piece but I'm no rock expert so I just left them.......oh and the I saw these guys....

I stopped and watched these guys for quite some time, very funny there was a small, medium, and large one and it appeared to me that they were all fighting for the same leaf on just one of a billion like plants that they could have chosen instead.

I found no turkeys but did come home with 5 ticks. I love the woods, there is just something magic about them that energizes me...oh by the way the small bug won, must have been a woman bug and started to nag so the 2 boy bugs left to go to the bar.
