Play time

After a long day.....days of getting everything together for Christmas, guncle Jake and I played a few games to finish the night out.

It was 11:00pm and we played until 1:30 or 2:00 in the morning I think. Meg and her mom were still finishing up things in the sewing room downstairs.

I lost at ping pong...

...and pool...

...oh ya and cards!!!

I don't think I should ever play games with guncle again,
I think he cheats.

A Christmas Pickle

This year I did quite well. It only took me 3 hours to find the "Christmas Pickle".

I took only a 10 or 15 minute break every half or hole hour between looking for the anonymous pickle, last year it was 2 day's but I only looked for 10 or 20 minutes at a time.
If you know something is there and you can't find it , well that's the challenge, man did this drive me crazy because Meg and her Mom found it before I did..... So not fair.

Legend of the Christmas Pickle

In old world Germany, the last decoration placed on the Christmas tree was always a pickle...carefully hidden deep in the boughs. Legend has it that the observant child who found it on Christmas Day was blessed with a year of good fortune...and a special gift.

What pickle ???

Can you see it yet?

There she is.

Lost and Found

D"artanyan and I decided to take a walk it was a great day to do it since the temp. was in the upper 40's and it's half way though December in MO., but it was cut sort because we found someones..........

Wallet

First thing you need to do is see who's wallet it is.

I looked inside to find a phone number but that was a dead end. Next I tired the phone book (denied again) then the most awesome person in the world (Meg) suggested we call the bank because he had a card in there for them. To make a long story short Meg ran the guy's wallet to the closest bank branch. I never thought about it until today but they say your kid's watch what you do...well I just hope D'artanyan saw what Meg and I did this day and understand's it's always better to do the right thing.

Pop...Pop...Pop...

I think every neighborhood must have at lest one kid like this.

I was getting ready for the 2 X-mas parties I was going to go to in a couple of hours and then I heard this Pop...Pop...Pop...sound coming from outside, So I opened the door and there he was...The kid from across the street in the middle of the road hitting the gun powder caps that you put into cap guns (remember those?) Anyway not such a smart move since the people around here think the speed limit is 40 mph or something.

So what was I to do? Well....I could go tell him to get out of the middle of the road, or go all the way across the street and tell his Mom....oooor just get out the trusty digital camera and sit by the door and just wait...like a hunter waiting for his prey.

Here are the pic.'s

Kid hitting the cap's.

Hey kid watch out!

Here's his Mom telling him..."Get out of the road NOW, and don't make me have to count to three...."

Snow fort

We had so much snow a couple weeks ago that I-70 was shut down from Marshall to Kingdom city, all most 90 miles.

There wasn't much to do because they wanted everyone to stay home so they could get the roads cleared off. Rumor has it that if you went out and then got stuck you were going to get a ticket. With nothing else to do D'artanyan and myself built a snow fort. Brings back memories of my childhood.

The snow fort

It was big enough for me to sit up in.
This was inside. I sprayed the interior walls with water so it would turn to ice and help to support the structure.

Looking outside.

Bug tent

A week or so ago we had a big ice storm followed by a huge snow storm

I had this screen tent that you set up over your outside table and chairs to keep the bugs away.It started to get a couple of small tears in it dew to the gusty winds we had this summer so I decided to leave it up this winter to see how it would hold up to the elements.

After the ice storm. The whole thing was like a tent of pure ice.

After 16 inches of snow

OH...I guess the ice walls couldn't hold all that snow

Anyone want to buy a slightly used bug tent?

How cheap is cheap

My dad (although I love him very much) is known all around the world as being kind of tight.
If there was ever one person that could find out a way to take there money with them when they died that would be him. This one time he was out checking on a job he might do and one of the hangers asked him to take a few steps closer and dad ask "why?"the hanger said"I just want to see if you squeak when you walk!"
Just the other day Dad went to JC. Penney's because he knew they were having a 40% off sale and he wanted to get a pair of boxer's. He got the 40% off and also had a coupon for $10.00 off any sale price. He was going to pay for the boxer's with his Discover card so he could get that 1% cash back but when the clerk told him the price he held his head up high and said "I'll be paying for that with cash today." Now here's the kicker
1 pair of boxer's $20.00
1 40% off
1 $10.00 off coupon
Total......$2.17

All I can say is ...wow...

Time to shave part 2

I was asked by my brother if I'd shaved yet. He He Heee ....Nope still haven't. It feels so good to set a goal like not shaving then to accomplish that goal with Little or no effort, But I will have to shave soon the people are talking.

This is a pic. Meg took of me checking the mail...Hey I got another one of my favorite newsletter's "The Procrastination and Indecision digest Weekly".

I wanted a blog that was funny and down to earth, now here's something down to earth...My beautiful Meg is going to turn 30 on the 1st of Jan. So this is for her and for everyone .

Thanks to OB.
I have Jeff's bolg link and will post it as I get all this blogging stuff figured out.

On days that I don't do or accomplish that much, I get frustrated with myself for wasting a precious day. Doing things and having new experiences makes me happy. With that said, I'd better get out and do something. Here's a copy of:

George Carlin's Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

"How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key.

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

"How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life, you become 21. Even the words! sound like a ceremony. YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What' s changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50

and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60! You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime! and it doesn 't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92."

Then a strange thing happens! If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm! 100 anda half!"
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG:
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them"

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keep sakes, music, plants, and hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Time to shave

Well it's that time again. Time for me to shave.
Man I just hate to shave...I would rather chew on a mouth full of thumb tacks and pour scolding hot grease down my front side.
I really feel sorry for all you women out there because you have to shave your legs, under arms, back, palms of your hands,in between your toes,ect...
Well maybe I can put it off another day.

Cracked Toes

Habits everyone has them but so offen we ignore them, well last night I had one I couldn't ignore.
Just like every other night I walked from the living room over the baby gate (caught and cracked my toes in the process) and into the kitchen, then back I go into the living room from the kitchen...crap...(cracked my toes again) then into the bathroom from the living room and...you guessed it (cracked my Fud&ing toes AGAIN!!! This wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that Meg headed out with the kid's 4 hours before to go to EX.Springs for the weekend and I left the baby gates up and doing there job. Funny how we get in the habit of a routine and even though things change we have a hard time changing with them.
